Jhara Palua(arrowroot,tikhoor) is a lost recipe of Odisha.
It is a traditional healthy, delicious Odia sweetmeat from the southern region of Odisha. It is prepared during the festive season like Hingula Jatra and Danda Nacha.


Ingredients:
*1 cup arrowroot
*4 cups curd
*1/2 cup sugar
*Pinch of salt
*1 cup water

Procedure

It is a combination of Palua(arrowroot)jaggery/sugar,yogurt(curd), wherein the palua is, soaked for half an hour to remove the stringent (Kasa)taste. Then cooked with a pinch of salt by adding water to a semi-solid consistency and sieved through a Sieve to over the sweetened curd. As this semi-solid Palua (comes down )falls from the sieve-like as thick Strings, it has got the name Jhara Palua.
